Day of the Dead Party Ideas
The Day of the Dead, which is actually a multi-day celebration October 31-November 2, is a time of remembrance of loved ones who have passed on and a time to celebrate the circle of life. Many people associate Day of the Dead with Halloween but it really is more associated with All Souls Day. Some say it is actually more of a remembrance day overall.
In celebrating Day of the Dead, often gravesites of the departed are visited, cleaned up and decorated. If the gravesite is not possible to attend, altars are then created in honor of the departed. Flowers, skulls, photos and candles adorn the altars. and are offered up to the dead but also enjoyed by the living. Much of the food and beverage offered are favorites of the departed. In serving food, tamales is the most common dish.

You can have a party with the theme of The Day of the Dead. Here are some tips:
- Decorate with skulls, tissue paper flowers, colorful fans, banners and candles.
